Diagnostic Care
Radiology

Radiographs (x-rays) are one of the most useful tests we perform when diagnosing your pet. X-rays are used to examine a number of areas of your pet's body and help us provide a complete diagnostic picture.
X-rays are often employed in diagnosing fractures, osteoarthritis and inflammatory bone diseases. Radiographs can also be used in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory problems such as asthma and bronchitis as well as pneumonia or infection. Radiographs of your pet's heart are used to diagnose heartworm infection and symptoms of heart disease. X-rays can also reveal the location of tumors, cancer and foreign bodies (such as bones or toys) in your pet's stomach.
Ultrasound

Ultrasound is an advanced imaging technique that uses soundwaves to provide a real-time, high-quality image of your pet's internal organs. Ultrasound is especially useful when examining the abdominal region and heart. The detailed images that ultrasound provides are particularly effective at detecting abdominal fluid, tumors and foreign bodies in your pet's stomach. Ultrasound is also used to diagnose heart disease and is frequently used for pregnancy evaluations.
Mayde Creek Animal Health Center uses the latest veterinary ultrasound equipment to diagnose your pet. At MCAHC, Dr. Oscar Ramirez, DVM, DACVR, a board-certified veterinary radiologist, performs advanced ultrasound examinations, guided biopsies and fine-needle aspiration procedures at our hospital.
Diagnostic Laboratory

When your pet is sick, he or she cannot tell us what is wrong and sometimes, physical examinations do not provide a complete picture of what is ailing your pet. In these cases, extensive diagnostic laboratory tests are performed in order to better diagnose your pet. Mayde Creek Animal Health Center is equipped with an advanced, extensive diagnostic laboratory capable of performing tests for dozens of laboratory values.
Our lab is staffed by trained, experienced veterinary technicians capable of interpreting results quickly and accurately. When your pet is sick, time is of the essence, and laboratory results are often available in a few minutes.
