Allergies
Allergies are one of the most common dermatological problems for dogs and cats. There are various types of allergens that could affect your pet, making them feel uncomfortable and miserable. Thankfully there are a number of treatments to help relieve allergy symptoms. Typical symptoms of allergies in pets include:
- Excessive scratching and face rubbing
- Excessive licking of feet, legs, and abdomen
- Hair loss
- Biting and chewing at the skin
- Recurring skin infections
- Frequent ear infections
- Chronic anal sac problems
Mayde Creek Animal Health Center performs allergy testing for pets using a process called serum allergy testing, which involves drawing a small sample of blood that goes to our laboratory for analysis. The serum test will identify the allergens that are causing your pet’s allergies. Once we have identified the allergens causing the reaction, we will begin a customized treatment plan for your pet using a specialized serum containing small quantities of the allergens.
Our pet allergy testing services will help diagnose and treat chronic allergy symptoms in your cat or dog. We can diagnose and treat a variety of dermatological conditions.
