Rabies Quarantine

Our animal hospital provides rabies quarantine housing for pets that have bitten a person or another animal, or have been bitten by another animal. If your pet has come in contact with the rabies disease, we offer safe housing and quarantine arrangements at Mayde Creek for a comfortable stay. As required by the county, the typical time of quarantine is 10 days. During your pet’s stay, he or she will be carefully observed by our doctors and staff, and we are here to answer any questions you may have regarding your pet’s recovery.

What are the signs and symptoms of rabies?

Symptoms may develop slowly after exposure to a rabid animal, so it’s important to be aware of any subtle changes in your pet.

Classic signs include:

• Fever
• Vomiting
• Weight loss
• Difficulty breathing
• Excessive salivation
• Weakness
• Paralysis
