Dr. Melody Palmer

A Texan since birth, Dr. Melody Johannsen (soon-to-be Palmer) grew up in Allen where she attended grade school and rode horses. She attended Tarleton State University, graduating in 2019 with her Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science and Minor in Biology. She then pursued higher education at Texas A&M University, graduating in 2024 from their College of Veterinary Medicine. During her time at A&M, she was the SAVMA (Student American Veterinary Medical Association) Chapter President.

Dr. Palmer is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and is certified Fear Free. She is also a member of the Association of Avian Veterinarians, Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians, and Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians.

Dr. Palmer’s favorite parts of veterinary medicine are advocating for animals who cannot speak for themselves and building lifelong relationships with her clients. She has a soft spot for nervous patients who might require a bit more attention, and special interests in ophthalmology, wound management, and exotic animal medicine.

Dr. Palmer is getting married to her fiancé, Jake, in October 2024. She currently has many pets, both warm and cold blooded. During her free time, she enjoys collecting rare houseplants and spending time with her animals. She also loves to read fantasy books and watch scary movies. Her hobbies include riding horses and taking ballroom dance lessons with her fiancé.
